Uniform Policy

Respectful, Responsible & Safe

 

 

The board of Education believes that appropriate dress and grooming contributes to a productive school learning environment. Student clothing must not cause a distraction, create a safety hazard, and may not invade the rights of others.

At Taft we have adopted the policy that your students will wear the following:

TOPS:

School approved Polo Shirts: White, light blue, navy blue and red with a collar.
NO T-shirts except “Let’s Communicate” or “Taft Tiger”
These shirts are available—order forms are in the office.
All tops must be tucked in at all times.

TROUSERS:

Navy blue or khaki
NO JEANS
ALL CLOTHING MUST NOT BE OVER-SIZED OR BAGGY

SHOES:

No sandals or open toes shoes
No “roller skate” shoes

HEAD GEAR:

Hats, bandanas and hair nets are not permitted. That which is needed for medical or religious purposes may be accepted.
NO “Tattoo—like markings”
NO “Mohawk” or distracting haircuts
JEWELRY: 
Should be limited to that which does not cause a danger or distraction
DRESS CODE VIOLATIONS:
Conference with a teacher
Call to parents
Detentions
Campus clean-up
Suspension
